RULE 26 STARTING SEQUENCE

The following is the new starting sequence in the 2009 – 2012 rules (rule 26). 

Both Winner and Loser Class will start during the same sequence. The warning signal will be YELLOW. The start flag will be RED.  The preparatory flag is BLUE with a WHITE CENTER (P flag).  The committee boat on station at finish line is the SOLID BLUE flag.

Races shall be started by using the following signals.

Times shall be taken from the visual signals; the absence of a sound signal shall be disregarded.

Additional Flags

Mark Roundings:

All rounding of marks are to port except:

GREEN - Starboard Rounding

RED / GREEN - Round Marks from either port or starboard (tacticians option)

Wear Lifevests:

Y FLAG (yellow and red diagonally striped)

Position of Next Mark Has Changed:

C FLAG (five horizontal stripes blue-white-red-white-blue) - sound one short three long one short on the horn.  This must be done before the first boat rounds the mark to be changed.

Individual Recall:

X FLAG (blue cross) – one horn, call out and point to boat
